Hello, Green shakes! Good bye, stimulants!

You will hear more from me about reasons to eliminate soda, sugar and caffeine. But I wanted to just give a green shake recipe for you to try ... I am very flexible with my green shake ingredients and encourage you to find your favorite combinations:

1 1/2 cups coconut milk
1-2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 10oz bag organic spinach (I buy 1 pound containers at Costco and freeze) 
1 frozen apple
1 frozen pear
1 frozen banana
2-3 Tbsp. fresh squeezed lemon juice (I use a citrus juicer and freeze in ice cubes. 
Blend all until very smooth... drink immediately or refrigerate for up to 48 hours (never lasts that long in my house)

If you are not such a fan of the lemon (my kids are!). Then another alternative we also do often is switch out the lemon for 1-2 C mixed berries. This makes a purple ice-cream-ish shake.

This demands a heavy duty blender but you can let the fruit defrost a little and process longer with a bit more liquid if your blender struggles....I have burnt out many a blender!
